Pain And Its Characteristics, Ankle Pain And Its Causes

Health is described as a complete physical, mental and social well-being. In modern times people take their health very seriously, they’re always looking for avoiding forthcoming health hazards. For that people always want to stay alert for any symptoms and indications. When talking about symptoms pain is the most important and common indication of an underlying disease. Pain is this uncomfortable sensation or feelings caused by the nervous system of the body. pain might indicate malfunction of a specific organ or any part of a specific system for ankle pain (ปวด ข้อ เท้า, which is the term in Thai) can indicate disease of the ankle or the whole joint system likewise a pain in the stomach may indicate any problem in the stomach itself or any problem in the whole digestive system. 

There Are Different Types Of Pain

Acute Pain

The meaning of the word acute is something for a short amount of time. Acute pain refers to pain that appears suddenly and stays for a very short amount of time. The pain can be as short as a sudden burn or might last for a few days or months. But it will not last more than 3 to 4 months. Acute pain can be due to an underlying disease or sometimes without any cause.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain refers to pain that is suffered by a person for a very long amount of time. Chronic pain is usually caused due to an underlying disease. Managing chronic pain can be a bit of hard work. Pain from surgery or cancer might need analgesic tablets. Some of this pain might also need at times injections or fluid analgesics to manage. Some chronic pain like chronic ankle pain or most chronic joint pain is managed by anti-inflammatory drugs or steroids.

Speaking about ankle pain, Ankle pain is one of the most common types of joint pain. The ankle is the region where the foot and the leg meet. Ankle pain refers to any discomfort or pain in the region starting from the lower leg to the starting of the foot. There can be various underlying reasons for ankle pain but sometimes the ankle pain is caused due to no specific underlying conditions. 

Acute ankle pain is caused sometimes just due to a sprain of a muscle or tendon or sometimes just due to an unfitted sandal or wearing high heels for a long period. Acute ankle pain is also a very common complication of aging.

But unlike acute pain, chronic pain is due to underlying diseases like cancer, fracture arthritis, etc.
